Our students show little or no interest in alumni mentoring. Is a mentoring program even worth it?
Sometimes Career Services report low registration numbers to us. However, our experience shows that the problem is rarely a lack of interest – students in this phase are usually very interested in receiving support. It is often due to the program design. A clearly structured process, simple registration, appropriate matching, and regular impulses throughout the program increase commitment and encourage participant engagement. This is how our clients have managed to increase registrations year after year.
Is a mentoring program feasible even with limited human resources?
Particularly in the university environment, personnel resources are often tight. By automating registration, matching, communication, and evaluation, menteez significantly reduces the administrative workload: instead of managing Excel lists and manual follow-ups, time remains for content-related and strategic support – depending on the program size, a few hours per week are usually sufficient.
How do we recruit enough alumni as mentors?
Our experience shows: The willingness is usually there – the decisive factors are how easy it is to get started, how clearly the added value is demonstrated, and how low the organizational effort remains. A professionally organized mentoring program creates a good experience for both mentors and mentees alike. This, in turn, makes it easier to recruit new mentors year after year.
We are just starting out or still have a small program. Is menteez also a good fit for us?
For smaller mentoring programs, manual organization is often sufficient. However, if the number of pairs increases to around 30 or more per year, or if the program is expected to grow further, the administrative effort quickly becomes substantial. Software reduces this workload and establishes the foundation for supporting more participants while maintaining consistent quality.
How are mentees and mentors supported during the program?
menteez automatically guides mentees and mentors through the entire program via email – with written resources, conversation starters, reminders, and surveys. Where is the data that is processed via menteez stored?
All data is processed and stored on servers in Switzerland. menteez meets the requirements of the Swiss Data Protection Act. The data belongs to your university at all times and is processed exclusively for the implementation of the mentoring program.
